The Bent
Radio Orchestra™
The BRO™ will give its inaugural performance on Sunday
6th July in Brighton Pavilion
Gardens as part of Expo 2008 Radio
Days
We are
therefore seeking performers to participate in this unique
event……..
The piece
will consist of a large number of players playing modified / butchered / circuit
bent or otherwise interfered with radios. The outputs of these will be connected
to a series of short range FM transmitters to enable the audience to tune in to
individuals or groups of performers with portable FM radios. The audience will
be free to move about the gardens to seek out interesting sounds or
combinations.
The performers will be
required to bring a BATTERY POWERED radio to use , as
it is likely that some of these will be destroyed in the process of performing
it would be advisable not to bring one of great sentimental or monetary value.
As the process of playing also can involve opening up the insides it would be
more than a little dangerous to use mains equipment
!
Players
will be free to find their own playing positions in the gardens or wander about
creating opportunities for the audience to discover “secret
performances”.
The
simplest way to get involved is to sign up , get yourself a radio , open the
back, turn it on, lick your fingers and ………………………………..dabble away

event is suitable for sonic explorers of any age or experience
