The M-Audio Microtrack is really good, the only downside may be the internal battery.

Great sound with the provided mic and has an S/PDIF input.

I have the second version and I've been using it to record instruments and for field recording and didn't failed me (yet).

You may find one in Deutschland, it seems that all retailers are running out of this recording device here in Canada.

There is a review on the O'Reilly website with sound samples and with and without the provided mic. It is for the first version but is surely still current to the newer model.

Good luck,

Hello,i own an H2 and though it is very handy and useful there are some serious faults that you should consider.  If you record on battery power at a sampling rate below 96/24 you get random very quiet beeps in your recording (audible in quiet recordings).  There is also some wind problems with the built-in microphones but that is not necessarily unique to the h2.
i would recommend the h4 over the h2 or the edirol one.  i haven't tried the m-audio one. That being said, it is a good little handy recorder (especially for the price) and i have used the h2 a fair amount.  I even used some recordings on professional projects with success.  But they weren't recordings that were being processed heavily.  I find the noise floor with the h2 is a bit high for detailed electroacoustic-style processing.

days is the Zoom H2 recorder (http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h2/)=
+ the Soundman Okm2 binaural mics (can't find a good link). I would like
to ask you experienced people:- I want to do some normal on-the-street recordings, not necessarilyaudiophile high-end material (but also not low budget). portability isalso an issue. Is this setup right?
- as someone told me, the Okm aren't indicated to record a concert, butvery good for other cases. has anyone tried them? But the h2 seems to begood enough for all kinds of recordings, right?- I didn't read any bad remarks about the h2, is there anything else to
consider? Do you know any other alternatives to this setup - being in thesame price range, and ease of use? Thanks,Joćo Pais--Friedenstr. 5810249 BerlinDeutschlandTel +49 30 42020091 [EMAIL REMOVED] jmmmpjmmmphttp://www.puredata.org/Members/jmmmp
