That's so simple! And it works... I'm almost there, but as soon as the main timeline loop resets, the midi loop within the timeline loop resets and  there's a break in the odd pattern. I'm wondering now how I can get it to ignore that the main timeline has reset and to keep going in it's own little odd loop without reseting. So far I can only figure to make the main timeline really really long so it doesn't bother me for a while, while I'm tweaking the ATX to get it right...

Let me know if this is more appropriate for an Ableton list...

Thanks for all the help!!! I see I don't really need anything but Live. Now to see about that glide...
