I literally venerated most of Eno's
ambient recordings, but disliked almost everything rock/pop he made. I
can only remember a few collabs like Passengers:Original
Soundtracks and early Bowie. Sorry for the die-hard fan out
there but Eno is such a terrible singer.. His best move ever was to
step out of the spot light.

Crimson was my start
point as well, and in much the same fashion. Frippertronics to Fripp
& Eno and then one year my brother gave me Brian Eno’s Discreet Music on
vinyl for my birthday… and I could make some corny analogy of my birthday into
ambient music but… too late I guess. And relating this to the guilty
pleasures topic anything Eno touches I have to listen to and really do find
myself liking as friends of mine roll their eyes ( I specifically got this
when I played James around them).

King Crimson was my starting
point, more specifically the "Frippertronics", the somber, off the beaten path
noise that my friends disliked so much.. I found it fascinating. My first CDs
were 'Evening Star', 'No Pussyfooting' and Fripp's later Soundscapes. That was
it, I was hooked.. Then I wondered; "Who is that weird, androgynous
looking guy called Eno? ;)
That was the beginning of a
great journey into the ambient genre.

Ah
yes, Crimson has always been interesting for skirting both the ambient and
heavy ends of the spectrum. On "The Great Deceiver" live recordings you can
hear "Heavenly Music Corp" from Fripp&Eno's "No Pussyfooting" being used
as intro music... flash forward to 2001, Crimson opens for Tool!- [EMAIL REMOVED] To: [EMAIL REMOVED] Date:
